Alfonso Castillo believes that it is the creativity and determination of entrepreneurs that drive innovation and technological change in the world. “Entrepreneurs define the future of technology. As venture capitalists, our role is to help them execute on their ideas and become agents of change.” says Alfonso. “It’s extremely motivating to work with world-changing teams and help them build long-lasting, successful businesses.”
Alfonso joined USVP in 2012 and focuses on early stage investments in healthcare IT and enterprise software. Since he joined the firm he has participated in multiple investments including InsideSales.com and Inadco.
Prior to joining USVP, Alfonso was a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Mexico City where he focused on media, consumer and energy industries across Latin America. Alfonso also worked in corporate development at MercadoLibre in Buenos Aires and in middle-market private equity at Highcrest Management Group, where he specialized in healthcare IT investments.
Alfonso holds a B.A. in Economics from the Universidad de las Americas Puebla and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Alfonso serves on the board of URAC, a 25,000-member microfinance and rural development non-profit organization in Mexico.
